EXPIRED DEAL – This deal has expired. We are leaving the expired details in this post so we can compare future offers to this expired one.

Link: Southwest Rapid Rewards® Priority Credit Card
Chase has changed the sign-up bonus for the Southwest Rapid Rewards® Plus Credit Card, Southwest Rapid Rewards® Premier Credit Card, and the Southwest Rapid Rewards® Priority Credit Card. You can now earn a companion-pass that is good until February 28, 2025 and also gain 30,000 Rapid Rewards points after you spend $4,000 on purchases in the first 3 months of being approved for one of these cards.
These cards have annual fees: $69 for the Plus, $99 for the Premier, and $149 for the Priority.
- Keep in mind that the companion-pass that is earned via this sign-up bonus expires earlier than a pass earned the regular way (via earning about 135,000 points in a calendar year). This pass has an expiry of Feb-28-2025; in contrast, a companion-pass earned from crossing the 135,000 point threshold lasts the full calendar year after crossing the threshold, and all of the next calendar year.
Interesting to note that this promotion has happened every February for the past few years. There is a good chance that this type of offer happens again in February of next year.
There are a few things to point out about this deal:
- Here’s a breakdown of the previous expired offer history: The most recent previous expired offer was 75,000 points after spending $3,000 on purchases in the first 3 months of account opening. The expired offer before that was 50,000 points after spending $1,000 on purchases.
- The current offer is the same as the best offer seen on February 2023 (last year) for 30,000 points plus a companion pass after meeting a $5,000 spending requirement in the first 3-months of account opening. The pass earned via that sign-up bonus expires February 2024. So the Companion Pass would have lasted less than a year in that case compared to a Companion Pass earned via regular means, which would last all of the current calendar year and all of the NEXT calendar year. There is a good chance that this type of offer happens again, NEXT February 2024, because it has been an annual occurrence the past two years.
- If you occasionally travel on Southwest then the Southwest Rapid Rewards® Plus Credit Card is probably going to be the best pick due to it having the lowest annual fee.
- Unless you travel on Southwest very often, the Plus and Priority cards are probably not going to be the best pick due to the increased annual fees. However, if Southwest is your primary airline, then the Southwest Rapid Rewards® Priority Credit Card $75 airline credit, 3x point earnings category for Southwest, and the 7,500 annual bonus points per year perks will more than offset the annual fee cost of the card.
- Earning the sign-up bonus is the way to go if you are using this offer get a Companion Pass since the earlier you meet the $4,000 spending threshold, the longer you get to use the benefit.
- Instead of this card, consider the Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card. It allows you to transfer points to many different airline partners including Southwest and United. This will give you more reward flexibility. The current offer is 100,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points after spending $8,000 in the first 3-months of being approved for the card, which is also the best offer we’ve seen for the Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card. It’s possible to apply for these business cards even if your business is a sole proprietorship.
- With Chase, you are likely to be denied if you have opened 5 or more cards with ANY bank within the past 24 months. Chase business cards don’t count towards the 5 card rule, but if you try to apply for one after you have opened 5 or more cards, you will likely be denied. If you are planning to apply for multiple cards, you should consider opening Chase business cards first, then Chase personal cards, and finally any other cards with any other bank.
- If you get denied and you have good credit, call their reconsideration hotline: 1-888-270-2127. Calling may not change the outcome, but there is a chance it will. You’ll also be able to get better insight in why your application was denied.
- After submitting your application you can check your application status at: 1-888-338-2586.
