American Airlines, Delta, and United have round-trip flights from Austin (AUS) to Grand Cayman (GCM) for $352-$361 with a connection. Flights May to February. Weekends available. Origin/Destination reversible.
A Carry-on bag and also a personal item is allowed for free on Delta. You can avoid paying for seat selection by accepting the randomly assigned seat at the gate.
If you use the Delta SkyMiles® Gold American Express Card, your first checked bag is free, you can get priority boarding, 20% off inflight food/beverage purchases, and 15% off Delta points travel purchases on Delta operated flights. Terms apply. American Express is an Escape ATX advertiser.
United’s “Basic Economy” fares do not allow for a free carry-on bag. Only a personal item (like a small laptop bag) is free. Seats are randomly assigned for free prior to boarding.
The personal item size on United is smaller (9 x 10 x 17 inches) than Frontier or Spirit (8 x 13 x 18 inches).
If you use the United℠ Explorer Card, your first standard checked-bag for you and your companion is free, you get priority boarding, two United Club passes per year, and you get a 25% discount on inflight purchases on United-operated flights. There is currently a limited time welcome-bonus of 60,000 United MileagePlus Points after spending 3,000 within the first three months of account opening.

Here are some other offers that we think are worth mentioning. List updated 11/28/2023.
We now list coupon codes, discount codes, gift card discounts, and credit card offers that offer a better value than their historical averages.
- Ends 12/4: $200 Amazon gift card welcome-offer for existing Amazon Prime members that get approved for the (Amazon) Prime Visa Card. No annual fee. Card also gives 5% cash-back on Chase Travel purchases as well as Amazon/Whole Foods purchases.
- New: United℠ Explorer Card: Sign-up bonus increased to 60,000 United MileagePlus points after you spend $3,000 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening. This is an increase of +10,000 over the previous offer.
- Chase Ultimate Rewards: +25% Point Transfer Bonus for JetBlue, Air France, and KLM. Air France / KLM bonus ends at the end of November. JetBlue bonus ends at the end of January.
- New: 75,000 Southwest Rapid Rewards bonus-offer with Southwest Rapid Rewards® Credit Cards after you spend $3,000 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening. This is an increase of +25,000 over the previous offer.
- Deal is back – Inc Business Cash® / Ink Business Unlimited®: 90,000 Ultimate Rewards sign-up bonus after you spend $6,000 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening. $0 Annual fee. Was 75,000 ($750). Sign-up bonus is credited as Ultimate Rewards points. This is a great card for sole proprietors due to the $0 annual fee and larger sign-up bonus.
- Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card: Spending requirement for 100,000 Ultimate Rewards points reduced to $8,000 after 3-months of being approved. This change will make it more likely that new applicants will be able to hit the requirement for the large sign-up bonus available on this card and it is the best sign-up offer we’ve seen for this card so-far. Previous spending requirement was $15,000, much higher.
- Airfare/Hotel coupons on Hopper: (updated daily-ish) Hopper always has discount coupons on their main page. Noteworthy discounts: $50 off Play Airlines, $150 off Saudi Arabia Hotels, $75 off flights to Sata Azores, $150 off Marina Del Ray Hotels, $50 off Aer Lingus flights, $200 off Cayman Hotels, $200 off Bermuda hotels, $50 Fiji Airways. $50 off Hyatt Hotels. $60 off Abu Dhabi Hotels. $50 off Aruba Hotels, and more. The full list is on Hopper’s website. Keep in mind that Hopper is an OTA, so don’t expect them to honor the free 24-hour cancellation period, or to have the lowest base fare price. Hopper will try to up-sell you on a lot of extras like “cancel for any reason” policies, if you decide to use Hopper we advise that you decline all of those extras.
- It is common to find Southwest and Alaska Airlines gift-cards for sale at a discount of about -$50 to -$20 off the redeemable value at Costco and Sam’s Club. Before you finalize your booking on either of these airlines, you should check to see if you can save more money by using a gift card.

- Tips: Use Tripadvisor to create a Hotel “short list”. First, plug in your dates and destination. Then select “Sort by Traveler Ranked”. Finally, select the “Traveler Ranking” filter to show “only 4* and up”. Use this resulting “short list” of hotels to find the cheapest one with a high ranking.
- Tips: The Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card allows for 1-to-1 point transfers to several airline loyalty programs. Booking with points is a good alternative to paying with cash when the price of airfare is high. Here is the current list of Chase Sapphire transfer partners: United, Southwest, jetBlue, British Airways, Iberia, Singapore Airlines, Emirates, Air France, KLM, Virgin Atlantic, Aer Lingus, and Air Canada.
- Tips: Vacation rentals on Vrbo are usually cheaper per night for longer stays than shorter stays. This is due to three main factors; The first is that most properties have a cleaning fee that is a fixed rate, the second is that many hosts provide discounts for stays longer than 6-days, the third is that the Vrbo service fee percentage is higher on short stays.
- Tips: You can (and should) sort the Vrbo vacation rental search results by “Total” price. Doing so exposes properties with high fees. For example, a $140 per-night property with $100 fees will rank as being more expensive than a $150 per-night property with $30 fees, when sorted. Sorting by “most reviews” is also a good option, as this will show you the most popular properties.
- Tips: Rent a car for cheaper by using Priceline’s “Express Deals”. The rental car company will be hidden until after you purchase, but this allows those companies to undercut the published rate indirectly. You can remove low quality companies from those hidden results. The trick is to use the quality filter on their website to remove any rental car company with a review rating under 7.0 and then pick the deals that survive the filter.
- Tips: Hotel rates for Weekend dates are usually higher than the rates for Sunday through Thursday. Tripadvisor has a color-coded date calendar, red when the average hotel price for that day is more expensive, green for less expensive. You can use this to get an overview of what dates in the month are at a discount.
- Tips: Different booking websites will often have differing routes, prices, and availability. Before you finalize your purchase, do a quick check on BookingBuddy, Skyscanner, and Kayak to see if any other site or airline is offering a better deal.
