This post is a preview of some of the raw data that I use to generate the content on this blog, and I plan to eventually make it exclusively available to our Patreon Supporters as a way to say “Thanks for helping us remain in business despite all that’s been going on.” If you’re interested in receiving these kinds of daily data snapshots, or if you just appreciate what I do, please consider supporting me on Patreon.

Due to the current situation with Covid-19, we do not recommend booking travel for flights that depart between now until June. Airlines have recently relaxed their cancellation and change policies. These policy changes will usually allow for free changes and cancellations for flights affected by Covid-19.

These recap posts will not be replacing the regular posts on the blog. I plan to resume that type of content once things start to settle down with the pandemic. Those posts will still be free, as they always have been.

These unfiltered recaps represent the raw data that I use to create our featured posts on the blog. There is a lot in here that would not “make the cut” for our regular content, such as deals with only 3 or 4 seats available, long connection times, or just not being priced low enough.

Hi everyone.

Ren here. It’s been a pretty crazy month, hasn’t it? If you would have told me last week that I would be redirecting our computing resources into COVID-19 protein folding, rather than into airfare analytical I would have given you a raised eyebrow. Yet, here we are. I wanted to lay out what my plans are in this FAQ format since It’s probably the quickest way to get my points across.

Spirit has round-trip flights from Austin (AUS) to San Juan (SJU) for $96 with a connection. Flights March to April. Very few extended weekends available. No short weekend trips were found.Origin/Destination reversible.

You can also save an additional 16% off your Hotel or up to $150 for Flight+Hotel packages on CheapTickets by using the “SPRINGBREAK” or “ADVENTURE150” coupon codes at checkout (before finalizing your booking).

Note: Spirit fares do not include a free carry-on bag. Only a small personal item, like a Jansport City Scout backpack is free. You can avoid paying for seat selection if you accept the randomly assigned seat prior to boarding.

Note: Spirit seats only have 28-inches of pitch; 2-to-3 inches less space than most other airlines.

I’m currently using the Jansport Right Pack as my “personal item” when I fly Spirit. Which is slightly more than expensive than the Jansport City Scout because its fabric is Cordura instead of Polyester. Both have the same dimensions which are: 18″ x 13″ x 8.5″. There is half-an-inch of extra depth than what is officially allowed by Spirit, but it has never been a problem for me. The bag has a large main compartment, which makes it ideal for stuffing as much as you can into the limited amount of space.
