American Airlines, Finnair, and Iberia have round-trip flights from Austin (AUS) to Helsinki (HEL) for $391 with a connection. Flights out of Austin are available February, March, April, May, September, October, November, and December. Flights out of San Antonio are only in February and March.

Carry-on bag is allowed for free on British Airways and Iberia. Other airlines either charge an additional fee or have bag weight restrictions for their carry-on.
Lufthansa “Light Fares” allow for 1 carry-on bag with a maximum weight restriction of 18-lbs. This will probably not be enough weight for those of you who wish to do a carry-on only trip. You can avoid seat selection fees by accepting the randomly assigned seat at the gate.
